- The Rigi Railway and cable car services are typically closed for maintenance during the off-season in November and early spring (usually between mid-November to mid-December and April to May).
- The ideal time to spend on Rigi is around 4 to 6 hours, which allows you to experience the summit views, take a walk through the hiking trails, and enjoy a meal at the mountaintop restaurant.
- Starting Point: The journey to Rigi begins from Vitznau or Weggis on Lake Lucerne. Both towns are easily reachable by public transport or private vehicle from Lucerne city
- Routes: Rigi Railway: Take the historic cogwheel train from Vitznau or Weggis to the summit, which offers a scenic journey through alpine meadows and forests
- Cable Cars: A combination of cable car and train can be used to reach the summit for a more direct and panoramic journey
- Accessibility: Rigi is largely accessible, with well-maintained paths and transport options catering to people with reduced mobility. However, some hiking trails may be challenging for those with mobility issues.
- Swiss Travel Pass holders receive a free or discounted ticket for the Rigi Railway and cable car ride
- Simply present your Swiss Pass at the ticket counter in Vitznau or Weggis to receive your ticket
- Voucher Redemption: If you have a voucher, you will need to present it at the ticket counter to redeem it for a round-trip ticket or discounted entry, depending on the terms and conditions
- For special packages, confirm voucher terms ahead of time to ensure smooth access.
- All excursions are now booked with a validity date & there is no open dated voucher option. The mountain excursion vouchers are valid for travel from the date selected until the validity of Swiss Travel pass, Eurail Pass & Full Fare ticket validity
- The Voucher should be printed on A4 Size paper and carried along
- it should not be tampered /amended / changed due to the pre-approved format from Excursion Company. In case of any tampering of the voucher, service or tickets will not be provided to the customer by the excursion company.
- Weather Conditions: Weather can change rapidly at high altitudes. Be prepared for chilly weather, even in summer, and check the forecast before your visit
- Safety: Follow all marked trails and guidelines for your safety. In winter, ensure you're equipped with proper gear for skiing or snowboarding
- Altitude: Rigi is at over 1,800 meters (5,900 feet), so be mindful of the altitude, especially if you're sensitive to higher elevations
- Pets: Pets are welcome on the Rigi Railway and cable cars. However, dogs must be on a leash and may require a ticket depending on the route
- Peak Hours: The mountain can get busy during the summer and holiday seasons, so try to visit during the early morning or later in the afternoon for a more peaceful experience.

- In case of bad weather conditions such as rain, fog or snow, the train will run, but the view of the glacier and the mountain range will be limited and no refund will be provided for partially used vouchers
- Please note that the tampered vouchers will not be accepted at the exchange counters of respective Excursions
- Issued vouchers are NON-REFUNDABLE within 3 days of the travel date
- Children aged 6 - 15 accompanied by at least 1 parent, travel free with the complimentary Swiss Family Card
