Swiss Half Fare Card works best if using public transport less than 5 days in a week. Lowest upfront cost but requires purchasing tickets at 50% discount each time. Best for light travelers. The Swiss Half Fare Card entitles you to a 50% discount on all journeys in Switzerland by train, bus and boat. The Swiss Half Fare Card is valid for one month, including for panoramic routes, gondolas and mountain railways.

Children between the ages of 6 and 16 travel free with the Swiss Family Card as long as they are accompanied by at least one parent holding a valid Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card. The Swiss Family Card is issued free of charge.
Is there a discount for senior citizens?
No, there is no discount for senior citizens for the Swiss Travel Pass.
Are there discounts for children and young people?
Children under 6 travel free of charge.

Children between the ages of 6 and 16 travel free with the Swiss Family Card as long as they are accompanied by at least one parent holding a valid Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card. The Swiss Family Card is issued free of charge. To do so, select the number of children travelling with you on the booking screen.

The Swiss Family Card is strictly in combination with a parent and child always travelling together. Children who are not travelling with their parent will need to purchase a Child Swiss Travel Pass where the price is 50% discounted of adult pass. For grandparents and other relatives, such as aunts and uncles, the Swiss Family Card is not applicable. The child will need to acquire a separate pass or a valid ticket.

Young people under the age of 25 receive a 30% discount on the Swiss Travel Pass with the Swiss Travel Pass Youth. The services included are the same.
Is there a discount for senior citizens?
No, there is no discount for senior citizens for the Swiss Travel Pass.
When is my Swiss Travel Pass valid from?
The Swiss Travel Pass is valid from midnight on the start date. For example, if you buy a 4-day pass with a start date of 24 July, the pass will be valid from 00:00 a.m. on 24 July and will expire at 05:00 a.m. on 28 July. The last trip must be completed by 5 a.m. and cannot be extended.
Where is the Swiss Travel Pass valid?
Trains and buses in Switzerland are included in the pass. However, seat reservations on panoramic trains are not included. Discounted travel on mountain railways (such as cable cars, funicular railways and cogwheel railways) is included. Urban transport (buses, trams) is included in 90 towns and cities. Public boat trips are included, except for special trips.

How can I reserve my seat on the panoramic train?
Seat reservations are required on most panoramic trains. This leads to additional costs (price varies depending on the provider). Travel on panoramic trains is included in the Swiss Travel Pass; you only have to pay for the seat reservation. Reservations can generally be made at the earliest three months before the trip.
